　　National Chiayi University is now accepting online applications for international students in 2023 until March 15th, with the second-phase registration for undergraduate programs starting from April 15th to May 15th. NCYU offers a monthly scholarship of NT$8,000 and NT$10,000 respectively for international master’s and doctoral students with outstanding academic performance. First-year international students in the undergraduate programs are entitled to the same tuition and miscellaneous fee discounts as local students. If ranked in the upper 50% of their class in the previous academic year, the students from the second year upwards may enjoy the same tuition and miscellaneous fee discounts for the current academic year. Those who are in the top 50-70% of the class may enjoy a partial exemption of tuition and miscellaneous fees, and other benefits. The incentives are expected to attract more international students to NCYU, and facilitate exchanges between local and international students, so as to achieve the goal of campus internationalization.

　　By actively recruiting international students, the NCYU Office of International Affairs hopes to expand the worldview of all teachers and students, deepen their understanding of multiculturalism, and enhance the students’ international competitiveness. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, there has been no relaxation of border controls worldwide. To attract outstanding international students to study at NCYU, the office has been participating in online education exhibitions held by various countries, including “Taiwan Higher Education Online Expo 2023,” “Malaysia Online Education Fair 2022,” “Virtual 2022 Taiwan Higher Education Fair in the Philippines,” “2022 Thailand-Taiwan Online Education Exhibition for Higher Education and Chinese Language Learning,” “NTNU Academy of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Chinese Students Fair in the Academic Year 2022-2023 (in-person),” etc.

　　To promote NCYU’s international visibility, in addition to joining online education fairs, they have posted advertisements overseas for student recruitment, including “Further Studies Guide 2022” in Malaysia, “Undergraduate Programs in Taiwan 2023-2024” in Japan, and “Online Education Fair by Persatuan Bekas Penuntut Taiwan, Johor Bahru.” Multilingual versions of the student recruitment video have also been produced with a view to recruiting more international students from different countries in the new year. In Chinese, Indonesian, Malay and Vietnamese, for example, the video provides information about NCYU, from food, clothing, living, to transportation. Seniors from different countries were invited to share their experience of studying at NCYU. It is hoped that international students will regard NCYU as their university of first choice when considering pursuing studies in Taiwan.
