The NCYU Career Day was held on the Lantan campus today. NCYU Career Day: 2,000 Job Openings for You to Choose
National Chiayi University hosted its annual career fair today (May 4th) at the square in front of the Gymnasium on the Lantan campus. The fair aimed to connect the fresh graduates about to complete their studies with the job market so that they can embark on the next chapter of their lives. A total of 47 companies offered nearly 2,000 vacancies on the Career Day. The objective was to help students to successfully apply for their ideal jobs through face-to-face employment matchmaking. The organizer provided an exciting plethora of lucky draw gifts, with a view to encouraging students to engage and find ideal jobs in a joyful atmosphere.

In his opening remarks, NCYU President Han Chien Lin said that among 6,000 job opportunities that will be available at the Chiayi Science Park, 2,000 were offered to NCYU students on site today. In line with the pandemic prevention measures, the event was held outdoors, and every participant was expected to wear a mask throughout the event to ensure a healthy body and mind. The organizer wished the students could find a suitable job and serve the society with their knowledge. As a cradle for talent, NCYU emphasizes industry-academia linkage, and integration of apprenticeships and internships in the industry into curriculum design. Every year, the Center of Career Development, Office of Student Affairs organizes a series of activities for the Career Day. The activities allow the students to better understand the needs of today’s industry, learn how to market themselves, and develop the qualities the companies are looking for. NCYU provides continuous services to the alumni, and is their home forever. The students are not only invited to join the Career Day activities, but consult their teachers should any problems occur after employment in the future.

According to the organizer, the recruiting companies at the Career Day included Dachan Great Wall Group, Charoen Pokphand Enterprise (Taiwan), K&K Foods, A. G. V. Products Corporation, Taisun Enterprise, LianHwa Foods Corp., NITORI, Uniqlo, RT-Mart, Hi-Life, Unimicron, Orient Semiconductor Electronics, BenQ Materials Corp., Walsin Lihwa Group, etc. Many of them are large listed companies or Japanese companies. The industries spanned manufacturing, natural resources, food and agriculture, marketing and sales, leisure and tourism, education and training, construction and logistics, and transportation, to name just a few. Among them, the manufacturing industry provided a large number of job opportunities (about 1,280 vacancies) due to a rebound in industrial demand. The salary starts from NT$30,000 to NT$32,000 in average, with some jobs offering a six-figure salary: Chieftek Precision Co., Ltd. is looking for domestic business engineers and N-Partner Technology Ltd. Co., big data and AI software engineers. In general, the job opportunities offered by companies this year meet the needs of graduates from various departments.

According to Jung-Chang Tang, NCYU’s Dean of Student Affairs, a variety of career-related activities have been launched since March to prepare students for employment. While maintaining pandemic prevention, they hoped to provide students with a wide spectrum of inspiring career counseling services and job-seeking platforms. In addition to today’s career fair, there will be “Rules for Success in the Workplace” on May 11th, “Enhancing Influence in the Workplace” on May 18th, “Dressing for the Workplace” on May 25th, “Job-hunting in Japanese Companies” on June 1st, and “Retail Store Management Practice and Visit” on June 10th. One and all are welcome to visit the website of the Center of Career Development, Office of Student Affairs for more details about the events: https://ncyuweb.ncyu.edu.tw/careercenter/.
