Wonderful Cinemas Gives Away 28,000 Movie Tickets to NCYU Teachers and Students

The Student Self-Government Seminar of the Lantan and Sinmin Campuses, National Chiayi University, for the second semester in the academic year 2021-2022 took place today (Mar. 30th) at the International Conference Hall of the the International Networking Academy, Lantan campus. Huang Bing-Xi, Chairman of Wonderful Cinemas in Taichung, graced the occasion by giving away 28,000 free movie tickets to NCYU faculty, staff and students. He hoped that everyone can relax by watching wonderful movies and enjoying the life-like experience at Wonderful Cinemas in Taichung during the holidays or weekends.

NCYU President Han Chien Lin expressed his gratitude to Chairman Huang for giving away the movie tickets to the university, which allows everyone in the university to watch movies with their plus ones for free. Some of the tickets will serve as incentives for work effort at different units. At the age of 17, President Huang shuttled between cinemas, carrying films on a bike before starting to work in the movie business after discharge from the military. He owned more than 10 cinemas at the apex of his career, and have managed more than 30 theaters. He has a collection of significant movie-related artifacts, including early projectors, movie posters and nearly 4,000 films. For half a century, he has been promoting movies and supporting domestic films, and committing himself to public welfare by providing free admission for underprivileged groups and students, among many others. He hoped to bring positive energy and inspiration to students through quality films with educational values.

In his remarks, Huang Bing-Xi, Chairman of Wonderful Cinemas, said that by doing charity through free movies he hoped to encourage more and more people to enjoy watching movies. He hoped that the values learned through quality movies will be internalized in our habits and lifestyles, thus achieving the goals of entertainment and education, and fulfilling the educational responsibilities for social welfare.

Hou Long-Bin, President of NCYU Student Association, said that going to the movies is one of the good ways for students to relax and relieve stress after school. He thanked Chairman Huang for this meaningful gift to all students of the university, hoping that everyone will show support to domestic films when the pandemic subsides.
