 High school students are welcome to visit the College of Management and explore possibilities for future careers. NCYU Plays a Key Role in Cultivating Top Business Management Talents
  The College of Management, National Chiayi University, was founded in 1990, when the university was formed by the merging of Chiayi Junior Teachers College and National Chiayi Institute of Technology. The educational philosophy is to discover the potential in each student, who will become a management professional with skills and ethics. With special focus on “student learning effect,” it is dedicated to encouraging independent and critical thinking in the students, who, with a broad vision, see serving others as their life purpose. The college consists of the Department of Business Administration, Department of Applied Economics, Department of Bio-industry and Agribusiness Administration, Department of Management Information Systems, Department of Banking and Finance, Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, College of Management Executive MBA Program, which is an in-service master’s program, and Global Master Program of Tourism and Management. As a highly integrated college, the college places equal emphasis on humanistic literacy, professional knowledge and ability to apply tools. It provides students with foreign language training, and interdisciplinary programs and employment-oriented courses to enhance students’ competitiveness in the job market.

Slash with a Diverse Skill Set
  To enhance students’ competitiveness, the incumbent and former deans of the College of Management have been proactive to integrate on- and off-campus resources, seek research grants, and offer case-based counseling and diagnosis services. In terms of educational mission, the college is devoted to building the core competencies of the students, and enhancing their theoretical and practical competency, and thus competitiveness in the job market. By means of integrating abundant resources of the college, the departments bring in synergy through teaching and curriculum planning, with a view to strengthening academic-industrial cooperation. The goal is to fulfill the university’s social responsibility by facilitating professional counseling services and industrial innovation. In the post-industrial era, the global industrial structure has changed dramatically due to the advancement of digital technology. As the concept of “specialized profession” has gradually given way to “slash,” who pursues a diversified skill set, the college prepares students to enter a wide range of careers. The college, which adopts the best training model for business schools in the world, has been known as one of the leading practice-oriented business schools in the industry.

Department of Business Administration
  The Department of Business Administration is dedicated to nurturing top business managers with professional management knowledge, communication and coordination skills, humanistic literacy and a global perspective. It embraces an educational philosophy that focuses on both theory and practice by offering a wide range of courses such as “operations management” and “global logistics management.” The objective is to motivate students to learn and think creatively, and improve their problem-solving ability by allowing them to build decision-making and analytical tools. The department places emphasis on helping students to cultivate character, enhance interpersonal relationships, and develop respect for professional ethics. The goal is to train students to become successful managers with professional knowledge, engagement, entrepreneurship and a sense of social responsibility.

Department of Applied Economics
  In addition to solid theoretical training in core areas, the Department of Applied Economics offers three elective programs to the students: “Research Methodology Program,” “Industrial Management Program” and “Economic Trend Analysis Program,” from which the students may choose freely according to their career plans. To improve teaching, research and learning results, the “Applied Econometrics Laboratory” was set up with special focus on econometric education and research and development in related areas. The “Applied Economics Clinic” was established to strengthen after-class learning and counseling for undergraduate students. In terms of future employment, the students may take up jobs in such fields as banking, securities, insurance, accounting, financial analysis, financial planning, corporate management consulting, internal auditing, industrial investment planning, and financial journalism. They may also pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in business management at home and abroad.

Department of Bio-industry and Agribusiness Administration
  The Department of Bio-industry and Agribusiness Administration hopes to enhance students’ experience, knowledge, and problem-solving skills by providing biological business and technology management courses from a local perspective and facilitating exchanges with the biological business industry. With a major focus on “general management in bio-business” and a supplementary focus on “technology management,” it aims to nurture all-round biological business management talents with creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. In terms of future employment, the students may take training courses in production and sales of the organic agricultural products and e-commerce platform management during college years, and serve as auditors or online platform managers after graduation. They may demonstrate their professional skills at public organizations or privately-owned enterprises in such industries as science and technology, logistics, and bio-business. The students may also take the Civil Service Senior Examination in the financial category and Special Examination related to economic planning and development administration, or pursue further studies in such fields as business management, scientific management and marketing at home and abroad.

Department of Management Information Systems
  The Department of Management Information Systems places equal emphasis on “information management literacy” and “information technology knowledge.” To meet the needs of society and enterprises, it is committed to cultivating professionals with business management expertise and information application capabilities. It advises students to take information certification exams related to MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), system analysts, etc. The students are required to conduct graduation projects, and project courses are designed to help students to integrate what they have learned and thus enhance their competitiveness. After graduation, they may seek jobs as IT industry programmers, quality control engineers, Internet programmers and information-related teachers, or work at multinational companies in other industries.

Department of Banking and Finance
  In response to the latest trend of “FinTech,” the Department of Banking and Finance offers three major courses including “Securities Investment,” “Corporate Finance” and “Financial Markets and Institutions,” which encompass professional training in financial information. The department offers a comprehensive financial laboratory, financial calculator software, simulated trading system and financial license simulation system. The objective is to provide students with solid financial information training and enhance their professional skills and core competencies. The teaching teams consist of accountants, actuaries, and professionals with financial licenses, advanced English certification and teaching experience abroad. They work with senior executives in the financial industry to coordinate teaching and update the students on the latest financial practices. The Department of Applied Economics, College of Management, NCYU, held a bilateral academic seminar jointly with Onomichi City University, Japan.  Out-of-school visits or industrial internships are organized as part of the teaching activities to create opportunities for students to interact with the outside world. The students o the Department of Management Information Systems won the first place in the 25th International ICT Innovative Services Awards (InnoServe Awards) in the category of business information innovation application with the theme of “Runner’s Spirit.”
