A group photo of NCYU President Han Chien Lin and the honored guests after the unveiling of Garbo, the mascot of NCYU Alumni Homecoming! NCYU Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert by Qinxin Pond
Today (Nov. 18th), the Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert of National Chiayi University took place near the Qinxin Pond, adjacent to the Worker Cooperative on the Lantan campus. The “Immersive Light and Shadow – Fairy Mirror” exhibition, held near the Qinxin Pond, will last for ten days from now until Nov. 27th. Representatives from regional alumni associations and guests of honor from different circles were invited to join the event. A lighting ceremony for the “Immersive Light and Shadow – Fairy Mirror” exhibition was attended by NCYU President Han Chien Lin, Alumni Association President Zhang Yong-Lin, Distinguished Alumni Association President Luo Qing-Yuan, Honorary President Lin Guo-Cun, Honorary President Huang Ying-Yuan, Honorary President Su I-Chi, etc. At the ceremony, they also unveiled “Garbo,” mascot of NCYU. One and all are welcome to come and see the campus in a different light at night.

The event was hosted by the Alumni Center and co-organized by the NCYU Worker Cooperative, Office of General Affairs, Office of Student Affairs, Music Department, and the Center of Enviromental Safety, among others. It was an unprecedented event on the campus of NCYU where lighting, environment and ecology were combined to deliver an event by the Qinxin Pond. Against a backdrop of dancing light and shadow, the participants listened to melodious string quartet repertoire performed by the teachers and students of the Music Department. They performed traditional Taiwanese music, film soundtracks by Hayao Miyazaki, the first movement of Mozart’s Divertimento for string quartet in F major, K. 138, Por una Cabeza (from Scent of a Woman), etc. When tasting NCYU Coffee and Tea, the participants seized the chance to catch up and share valuable life experience, wishing for a more prosperous future for their alma mater.

President Han Chien Lin said that the NCYU alumni from different regions are dedicated to the development of their alma mater, teachers and students, and have been sparing no effort to help enhance the university’s development. With strong support from the alumni, NCYU will continue to promote talent cultivation and development in the fields of academia, research, government and industry. To express gratitude to the alumni for their selfless contribution and commitment to their alma mater, the Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert was specially held on the eve of the university’s anniversary. They hoped to bring an enjoyable and memorable night in late autumn to every honored guest by the Qinxin Pond. Under a bright moon, they feasted their ears on the melodious music, with light and shadow swaying in the gentle breeze.

NCYU has four campuses. The Lantan campus, adjacent to the Lantan Reservoir, is renowned for its beautiful scenery. The Worker Cooperative provides a platform for selling high-quality products developed jointly by teachers and the industry. In addition to the well-known NCYU products such as fresh milk, yogurt and soy sauce , “NCYU Coffee” and “NCYU Tea,” both results of collaboration with the alumni, were launched earlier this week (on Nov. 14th). The Jiayou Railway Bike Path near the Sinmin campus, situated in the urban area of Chiayi, is a must-visit for cyclists, who may ride from Chiayi City to the Tropic of Cancer Marker at Shueishang Township, Chiayi County. A famous scenic spot in Chiayi, Hinoki Village is located next to the Linsen campus. Located in Minsyong Township, Chiayi County, the Minghsiung campus boasts beautiful floss-silk trees now in full bloom. Alumni are welcome back anytime to NCYU to recall their college days and enjoy the changing scenery of the campus throughout the year.
At the Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert, teachers and students of the Music Department performed euphonic string quartet repertoire. To celebrate NCYU’s 103rd anniversary, the exhibition “Immersive Light and Shadow – Fairy Mirror,” held near Qinxin Pond, will last from now until Nov. 27th. On today’s (Nov. 18th) evening by the Qinxin Pond, the Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert took place with representatives of alumni from various regions returning to their alma mater to catch up with teachers.
