 At the NCYU’s 103rd anniversary ceremony today (Nov. 19th), incumbent and former Presidents and guests of honor unveiled the electronic scrolls showing the anniversary theme: “Inheritance, Innovation, Excellence and Progress.” NCYU’s 103rd Anniversary Celebration: Inheritance, Innovation, Excellence and Progress
  The 103rd anniversary ceremony of National Chiayi University kicked off at Auditorium (Zuei-Suei Guan) on the Lantan campus today (Nov. 19th). The ceremony opened with exciting performances by the NCYU Music Department’s Jazz Band, and the Sunshine Cheerleading Team, who demonstrated remarkable results of daily practice to celebrate the birthday of the university. To bring into full display the unversity’s long history and legacy of excellence, members of the NCYU Taipei Alumni Association sang the old anthem of the university before its conversion, while the NCYU Lantan Chinese Orchestra performed the current anthem. Incumbent and former Presidents of NCYU, Chiayi City Deputy Mayor Chen Shu-hui, R. O. C. National Chiayi University Distinguished Alumni Association President Luo Qing-Yuan and former President Lin Guo-Cun, NCYU Taiwan Alumni Association President Zhang Yong-Lin and former President Su I-Chi, and representatives of alumni from all over the country and guests of honor came to join the event, filling the occasion with warmth and grandeur.

  In his remarks, President Han Chien Lin said that NCYU has made great efforts to raise revenue and reduce expenditure, and won the Silver Award in the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Energy Saving Benchmark Award 2022. In addition, they have raised external funding of over NT$20. 48 million for improving the flood detention pond on the Lantan campus, so as to provide teachers and students of the university with a more beautiful and resourceful teaching environment. The AI Farming Demonstration Center will also be constructed to help improve profitability in the aquaculture industry. To save and reuse energy, a rainwater storage system will be set up on the Lantan campus to recycle rainwater for air-conditioning at the library and aquaculture practice of the Department of Aquatic Biosciences. To fulfill the social responsibility as a university, they will also assist in enriching humanistic and ecological tourism resources in Budai Township, and facilitating physical and mental health of the elderly in the community. To promote the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the United Nations, NCYU is dedicated to imparting the concept of carbon cycle and net-zero carbon emission of sustainable forest ecological management. They have won support from the Council of Agriculture to establish the “Educational-Experimental Forest,” with a view to fulfilling its local mission to cultivate talents for compartments in the surrounding working circles. They have also applied for the project for “Establishing Training and Industrial Carbon Reduction Promotion Building for New-Generation Farmers. “ It is an attempt to demonstrate NCYU's characteristics in agricultural production, innovation in research and development, industrial automation, product processing refinement, etc. With “smart agriculture” as the ultimate goal, they hope to build a student internship farm to cultivate agricultural talents for the new generation. By introducing the “Net Zero Emissions” plan of greeny life cycle in agriculture and animal husbandry to the campus, they hope to make the university a best-practice model for cultivating outstanding young farmers in Taiwan.

  Deputy Mayor Chen Shu-hui said that NCYU is an important academic hub in the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan region. Since its founding 103 years ago, they have been cultivating countless talents for the benefit of the society and country, and bringing better education and well-being to Chiayi City. Mayor Huang always feels honored and proud when mentioning her alma mater (NCYU). In the future, the Chiayi City Government will join hands with NCYU to develop “Education for the New Generation,” as part of the “10X10” New Chiayi Landscape, or ten flagship projects in Chiayi City. Together, they will promote experimental education, innovative education and sustainable education, and create a better future for Chiayi City.  
 
  In recognition of the alumni's dedication and contribution to their alma mater and the society, 18 people including Zhang Cong-Yuan, Chairman of Huali Industrial Group Company Limited, received the Education Donation Awards of the Ministry of Education this year at the ceremony. A total of 32 alumni were presented with the Distinguished Alumni Awards, Meritorious Service and Commitment Awards. “Senior Administrative Staff Award,” “Outstanding Part-time Administrative Teachers and Staff Award,” “Outstanding Technicians and Maintenance Workers Award” and “Major Off-campus Competition Winner Award for the Unit and Personnel” were also presented at the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, President Han Chien Lin, former presidents and honored guests unveiled the electronic scrolls and LED screen, showing the anniversary theme “Inheritance, Innovation, Excellence and Progress,” and happy birthday animation. The 103rd anniversary ceremony reached a climax with the audience singing the festive happy birthday song.

  The students scanned their student ID cards before entering the venue of the ceremony. The data was later imported into the electronic lucky draw system specially designed by the organizer. Before the end of the ceremony, a list of winners was generated at random when President Lin pressed a button. Hurrahs of “I won the lucky draw!” rang out from time to time, adding to the festive mood of the anniversary ceremony.
NCYU President Han Chien Lin delivered his remarks. Returning to their alma mater, members of the NCYU Taipei Alumni Association sang the old anthem of the university before its conversion. The Sunshine Cheerleading Team gave a spectacular performance to celebrate NCYU’s birthday.
