Located in the basement (B1) of the Multipurpose Instruction Building and surrounded by green serenity, the NCYU Language Center features top-notch software and facilities that promote active learning. The NCYU Language Center also prides itself on an outstanding faculty specialized in teaching sophomores and juniors a wide spectrum of English curriculum geared toward academic success and the English Proficiency Graduation Requirement of NCYU.

The NCYU Language Center is dedicated to incorporating English learning into real life contexts by establishing the Consultation Room, Reading Room, Oral Presentation Room, Cultural Exchange Corner, English Corner and Karaoke Room. Our facilities coupled with our faculty will contribute to a motivational and user friendly learning atmosphere.

Cultural Exchange Corner

Currently the Language Center has a collection of 46 award-winning films in various genres including family, comedy, action, adventure, fantasy, and dramas. This collection primarily serves as classroom teaching aids or as resources for our English Clinic participants. The Cultural Exchange Corner is decorated similar to a Western-styled living room or family room tohelp students get used to English speaking environments.

Students are welcome to come to the English corner to join the foreign instructors on duty for English and intercultural communication. This allows students to gain confidence when communicating with foreigners in English.

Reading Room
The English Clinic program offers reading materials in various genres including romance, adventure and even autobiographies. All are published by the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge University Press. Efficient utilization of these resources will strengthen your listening, reading, writing and speaking techniques for the GEPT test.

Oral Presentation Room

Struggling with stage fright? Our Oral Presentation Room is furnished with a wall-sized mirror, computer and video camera, with which you can observe and critique your own speech performance to improve your verbal and nonverbal communication and further overcome your stage fright.

Individual Oral Practice Room
For those seeking eloquence, our Individual Oral Practice Room features learning software that can help improve your pronunciation and articulation.

Karaoke Room
This spacious place features a pro-level video and audio system including a 42” LCD wide screen, wireless microphones, karaoke system and two floorstanding speakers, and of course comfortable couches. Nevertheless what really counts is our beloved English classic oldies songs that will truly polish your tone and pronunciation with unforgettable rhymes and lyrics. As practice makes perfect, you are invited to our karaoke room to be a star and immerse yourself in these everlasting melodies!
