Mission and Goals

As it went to 21st century, agricultural development became more important to obtain and invent higher quality crop production, to maintain and monitor wonderful ecological environment quality, and to develop and sustain the agro-resources. Agronomy does not degenerate as time goes by and moreover plays a key role for food production systems, organic agro-ecosystem management, and linkages between agricultural production and bio-environmental protection. Our department has the missions to carry forward the cause and forge ahead into the future. Such as now, we endeavor to provide higher quality of education resources and research equipments for training our students to have expertise in multi-purpose crop development (i.e. food, medicine, energy, and novel crops). And, in order to approach to sustainable development of agriculture, the marketing brand extension, certification system, and safe and healthy crop production are promoted with the considerations of organic agricultural strategy and natural resource protection in our department.

Currently, we have 11 full-time faculty members, including three professors, three associate professors, four assistant professors, and one instructor. All 11 members were awarded the Ph.D. degree. The core courses offered are crop science, physiology, genetics, crop breeding, biostatistics, and experimental design. For the sake of offering thematic and extension courses for both undergraduate and graduate student, our teaching and research activities are introduced into the multidisciplinary issues and integral applications of modern agriculture in Taiwan.
