There are graduate, undergraduate, and two-year technical programs in the Department of Civil and Water Resources Engineering.

For undergraduate study, the Department has developed a curriculum providing students with a broad base on which to build an engineering career. Courses include both basic sciences (physics, chemistry, and applied mathematics), and engineering sciences (mechanics, materials, computer programming, fluid mechanics, graphics engineering, structural theory, surveying, soil mechanics, reinforced concrete, hydraulic engineering, environmental engineering,  hydrology, foundation engineering, and engineering geology). The Department of Civil and Water Resources Engineering provides civil and water resources engineering laboratory courses on materials, soil, surveying and hydraulics.

To obtain a B.S. degree, a student has to complete a minimum of 128 credit hours. In addition to 83 required credit hours, according to his/her own interest and career goal, student also has to complete at least 45 credit hocus of elective courses. Courses intended exclusively for graduate study are offered in addition to those intended for both graduate and undergraduate students. The students are free to choose from these courses as well as others provided by other departments of the University in order to help them satisfy their academic interests and achieve their career goals.

The graduate program leading to the Master of Science degree in civil and water resources engineering requires the complexion of a minimum of 30 credit hours. Among these credit hours, four credit hours of Graduate Seminar and six credit hours for thesis are mandatory. Before entering the program, a student has to select a major field of study among geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, hydraulic engineering, and surveying engineering. On the basis of his/her own interest and in consultation with a faculty adviser, a student may develop his/her own program of study. In general, attainment of the degree requires two academic years of full-time study.
