Experience

Taiwanese pianist Yen-I Lee is in high demand as an accompanist, chamber musician, and vocal coach.  Her commensurate proficiency with vocal, instrumental, and choral repertoire reflects her many talents and her musical versatility.  In 1996 she completed her BM in vocal performance at the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, earning the Modal Student Award.  Afterward, she came to America and achieved a double MM in piano performance and piano accompanying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  Upon the completion of her ensuing DMA studies in accompanying and vocal coaching at the University of Minnesota, Lee was accepted on full scholarship to pursue post-doctoral studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, where she recently completed a Graduate Diploma in collaborative piano.  Ms. Lee’s primary teachers include Margo Garrett, John Greer, Tim Bach, Kayo Iwama, Karl Paulnack, and Irma Vallecillo.  She has also enjoyed coaching with Martin Katz, Jean Barr, Warren Jones, and Pierre Vallet.  During her studies, Ms. Lee also participated in summer festivals at both the Music Academy of the West and the Tanglewood Music Festival.  In the past she has served as a staff accompanist at the San Francisco Conservatory, MIT Chorus and the Boston Conservatory.  Since Fall 2004, she starts to teach at National Kaohsiung Normal University and Chia-Yi University.
