Harmony (I) will discuss a variety of techniques to clarify underlying voice leading and harmonic structure. Students will be able to understand the basic harmonic construction and to compose through the practices of writing figure bass and harmonizing the melody. Our goal has been to help students to lay a solid foundation for music analysis, music composition, and music performance.

The first semester will be focused on the chords in root position, first inversion and second inversion, dominant seventh chord, harmonization of the melody, and the modulations.
