Course: Instrumentation and Orchestration I

This course will take students to search the development of the orchestra from the music history and to get a general impression of the composers’ orchestration style in different era. A basic understanding of the orchestra instruments will be established, include the developing history, register, timbre, structure, and performing technique. In order to intensify the awareness of the sound effect, the music and score examples will be presented in the class. Also, from the music example, students will have the opportunity to analyze and realize the orchestration style of three great composers in the classic era.
