1.  To match up the establishment of a comprehensive university, research areas of the faculty members in this college are integrated and developed in a combination of basic researches and innovative applications. Ex tension and collaboration with the regional industries in the field of life sciences are intensively pursued and strengthened.

2.   Research objectives: researches of the College are based on the applications of theory and developed to the fields for industrial requirements, including human health (food science, molecular medicine, biological medicine of microbiology and immunology), biological technology (molecular biotechnology, virus vector technology, biochemical engineering, fermentation engineering, genomics and proteomics) and ecological environment (biodiversity and aquatic bioscience). In accordance to the globalization tidal current, low-value products are attempted to upgrade to high-tech product with high economic value added.

3.   Biological technology emphasizes on food industry, aquaculture, biological resources,  Chinese herbal medicine and agricultural microbiology. Specific topics contains new drugs development of Chinese herbal medicine,  development of biological pesticide, development of animal vaccine, breeding of aquatic larvae, application of bioreactor, development of transgenic animals and plants.

4.   Biological technology of biomedicine emphasizes on chemical extraction and analysis of natural products, collection and analysis of biological anticancer materials, design of drugs, protein engineering medicine, diagnostic reagent and scientific Chinese medicine. Purification, identification of bioactivities and structure, mass production, appropriate productive materials and dosage forms of above active components or proteins are the key technologies during development of biological technology. This could promote the productive technology, competition ability and nurture the high-tech talents for industrial circles.
