　　Sixteen current students and recent graduates of the Department of Agronomy, National Chiayi University passed the 2015 Civil Service Senior and Junior Examination, according to results announced recently. Among them, eight students, including two recent graduates, passed the Civil Service Senior Examination in the agricultural technology category; and eight passed the Civil Service Junior Examination in the same category. The fourth-year student Li Yi-Bei, who joined the civil service examination for the first time, passed it with the highest score. An award was presented in recognition of her achievement at the weekly department assembly of NCYU. During the assembly, she was invited to share her experience of preparing for the civil service examination. Her experience served as a model for students who plan to or have registered for the Entry-level Special Examination to be held in this December.

　　According to Chong Kai-Wei, Chairman of the Department of Agronomy, NCYU, it was not an easy task for Yi-Bei to pass the Civil Service Junior Examination in the agricultural technology category with the highest score. The category was joined by nearly 400 candidates, among whom 85% have obtained bachelor’s or master’s degrees and only a few are current students. The example she set is one that may well be emulated by all juniors.

　　Li Yi-Bei said it was not that difficult to pass the civil service examination since many professional subjects in the Civil Service Senior and Junior Examination have been included in the curriculums for the first three years. The examination is not as hard as you think as long as you pay enough attention to lectures. She had prepared for the exam with the dedication as if it was just a midterm or final exam in the third year. Finally she passed the examination with flying colors after going over professional subjects covered in the first and second years.

　　Hou Jin-Ri, who served as instructor for her class during the third year, commented that Yi-Bei is a hardworking student who had ranked first or second in her class in terms of academic performance during the second and third years. During class meetings he often encouraged students to join the Civil Service Junior Examination not simply because it is a good way to test your academic skills, but because it is a way to prepare yourself for the future – either pursuing further studies or entering the workforce.

　　According to NCYU, a total of sixteen students of the Department of Agronomy passed the 2015 Civil Service Senior and Junior Examination in the agricultural technology category. The eight students who passed the Civil Service Senior Examination include Guo Li-Ren, Li Jia-Qi, Ceng Tai-You, Yang Zhi-Hong, Chen Ying-Yin, Huang Li-Qin, Chen Qiao-Wen, and Shi Nian-Hao. The eight students who passed the Civil Service Junior Examination include Li Yi-Bei, Liu Wei-Ting, Li Ting-Ying, Yang Zhi-Hong, Huang Li-Qin, Li Yu-Xiong, Li Jia-Qi, and Li Chia-Sheng. While Zhu Yong-Zhu passed the Level Three Special Examination for Indigenous Persons in the agricultural technology category with the highest score in Dec. 2014, five NCYU students passed the Entry-level Special Examination in Mar. 2015.

　　The university stressed that their students’ remarkable performance in the civil service examination bore witness to their exceptional educational philosophy and student potential. Passing the civil service examination is not a pie in the sky as long as you work hard to achieve it.
