99.04.20 Passed at the Academic Affairs Meeting

I. Development Policies and Characteristics:

With the solid basis of academic research, the developing direction of our department lies mainly on optoelectronics science and solid-state electronic; cooperate enthusiastically with the industrial circles, and thus carry on forward-looking research and technological development.

The research team of our department could be divided into three major parts which are respectively:

 1. Optoelectronics Science: liquid crystal optics, nonlinear optics, optical films, optical design, optical components, fiber optics, laser physics, solar cells.
 2. Solid-state physics: quantum components, surface and interface physics, magnetic thin film, nano physics, spin electronics.
 3. Semiconductors: semiconductor film, semiconductor nanometer process or component simulation, TFT manufacturing process or design.

II. Course Objectives:

 1. Foster applied physics knowledge and ability
 2. Foster optoelectronics science knowledge and ability
 3. Foster solid state electronics knowledge and ability
 4. Foster experimental skills

III. Basic Ability Index:

 1. Applied physics knowledge
 2. Optoelectronics knowledge
 3. Solid state electronics knowledge
 4. Scientific practical skills
 5. The ability of problem discovering, analyzing, and solving
 6. The ability of communication and team-working
 7. The ability of extending basic science to applied science
 8. Language ability

Statute:

Credits Required for Graduation:

For graduation, the student should get requested credit of at least 30 points which includes 4 points for required courses, 20 points for specialized optional courses, and 6 points for thesis.

Others:

 1. The student should get the credits of the designated required courses, core courses, and elective courses.
 2. Minimum Graduation Credits (not including thesis credits): 24 points(including 20 points for core courses and elective courses, and 4 points for seminars). For five-year bachelor-master program students, seminars (III), (IV) could be offset by the credits of specialized optional course designated by the advising professor. The recognized credits of special topics are at most 4 points.
 3. Minimum elective core courses credits: 10 points
