About the University of Idaho Visiting Mission~~~~(2011/03/16)

The University of Idaho Visiting Mission-01

The University of Idaho Visiting Mission was led by Dr. Bob Tripepi and Dr. Madison Powell, with four students from the school. They came to National Chiayi University during the spring break in hoping to have further communication, experience exchange and opportunity of cooperation in the future. On March 16th, the Assistant Professor, Chih-Yu Lo and two other junior students, Hung-Gang Wan and Yu-Hsiuan Li from Food Science department hosted the visiting mission’s lunch reception. During the lunch, our students tried their best to communicate with the American students in English. They tried to let them know the scope of the student life here in Chiayi University, including the courses taken by the students and also the daily life and activities during the leisure time. Students from both sides were all very surprised by the difference from the lifestyle and cultures. After lunch, all parties headed to the AGV Products Corporation for a visiting tour. Assistant General, Mr. Po-Yuan Chiang introduced the Nice Group’s business goals, prospective and all the production areas of the company. Next, the company provided a beverage production line tour. From container making, beverage production, ultra-high temperature sterilization, to bottling and packing, all are done in a dust-free and sterile environment. For the production line management, everyone was impressed by both the natural bioactive components conservation, and the 24-hours non-stop high performance of massive production. After the tour, Aseptic PET Plant Manager, Mr. Allen Chiu was the host for the Q & A time. From this tour, it is clear that American students were all intrigued by the oriental beverages, such as Mesona chinensis products. They also got a deeper perception about the demands in conservation of natural bioactive components and health improvement.
