Plant Tissue Culture & Practice of Plant Tissue Culture

Plant Tissue Culture (2 credits, 2 hrs/week)

 

Practice of Plant Tissue Culture (1 credit, 2 hrs/week)

 

To introduce the basic plant tissue culture theory and methods for students to apply in forest tree species (pines and spruces).  The course will cover major issues of plant tissue culture: adventitious shoot propagation, axillary micropropagation, callus organogenesis, somatic embryogenesis and hairy root culture system.  Students will learn how to operate these techniques in the practice course.
